ESI, Hamburg - Courses with Ethicon Endo-Surgery
Ethicon Endo-Surgery U.K. (EES) are proud to be associated with the D.O.H National Training Programme for Laparoscopic Colorectal. EES recognize the sequential approach required by surgeons to learn these new surgical interventions. We also understand that industry has a key role to play in supporting surgeons with their training, especially in the provision of training resources not always readily available.
Because of this EES are delighted to offer appropriate surgeons who are registered with the programme the use of our wet lab facilities in Hamburg to enhance their skills prior to working with their nominated trainer in either their own, or their nominated trainer’s hospital.
EES have developed a stepwise approach to training, and define the wet lab stage as “Enhancing”. The objectives of this stage are to build competency in:
1) Handling of procedural critical devices for dissection, haemostasis and anastomosis
2) Understanding the properties, capabilities and limitations of these devices
3) Developing the theatre team to perform the procedure
4) Provide a platform for the next training stage deemed appropriate
The Enhancing training can take place over one or two days depending on the trainee’s requirements. EES can construct a be-spoke training episode based on the needs of the delegate and the input from their nominated trainer. These events are for a maximum of four delegates, and the training is one to one. Training can comprise of:
1) The latest virtual reality simulators to refresh core skills, as well as performing a simulated Laparoscopic Sigmoidectomy procedure.
2) Simulated procedures using tissue models, performing mobilization, haemostasis and anastomosis
3) Procedures in the wet labs
Surgeons wishing to use the EES facilities in Hamburg should in the first instance discuss this training stage with their nominated trainer, and then with Mark Coleman, Clinical lead for the national programme.
If, after discussion, it is agreed that this is a requirement, Laura Stapleton, Programme Manager will contact EES UK and request that the event takes place. EES will then contact you to organise the event.
