National Training Programme in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery

Nottingham University Hospitals (Queen’s Medical Centre Campus) Programme Details

Programme Summary

The Nottingham Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery Programme will commence with a 2 day course held in Nottingham (first day to include live operating, team working and skills stations, second day cadaveric course).

After successful completion of this course, candidates will commence live theatre working with our Programme Consultant Leads and their theatre teams. The candidate will complete the programme once they have attained a satisfactory level of competence.

The Nottingham 2 day course has been designed for surgeons and their theatre teams including anaesthetists, theatre nurses etc. Surgeons wishing to join this programme are strongly encouraged to identify members of their theatre team including anaesthetists, ODPS, theatre nurses to attend day 1 of the 2 day course and a theatre nurse to attend day 2 (cadaveric course) and confirm that all participants will active in the whole programme.

Nottingham’s programme is designed for a multiprofessional theatre team and we will provide expert support to candidates and their teams throughout the training period. The level of support required will depend on individual’s level of experience but this may include for example arranging for Nottingham theatre nurses to visit candidates and their teams in their base Trusts to review equipment set up etc.
